Montemagno
Village in the hills, outside Pisa

Montemagno is a protected Medieval village.  It sits on a small plateu at 200 meters above the sea, overlooking Pisa.  Hidden from the normal tourist, but still not far from the splendid cities and the ocean.  A perfect place to retreat after an eventful day in Tuscany.

There are less than 250 inhabitants in Montemagno.  But there is a small store and a small Tuscan trattoria.  Less than 2 km away is the larger village Calci.  There you will find bakery, butcher, pharmacy, several trattorias, gelateria, tourist information, and so on.

Montemagno is a suitable starting point for trips all over Tuscany.  With, or without car; public transport to downtown Pisa.  From Pisa you can take the train or bus to Lucca, bus to the ocean, or the train to Firenze and Siena.
